THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LIVE STAND-UP COMEDY IN AUSTIN, TEXAS
Beth Stelling is a stand-up comedian, writer and actress. She's a product of the Chicago stand-up scene and studied improv at The Annoyance Theater. Beth's background is in theatre; she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University and interned at The School at Steppenwolf in Chicago.
Starting stand-up in Chicago, Stelling became a member of Chicago Underground Comedy and hosted a Sunday night variety show in Boystown with her best friends, The Puterbaugh Sisters, for many years called Entertaining Julia (Julia was the bartender).
Beth was named "Best Stand-up Comedian in Chicago" by The Chicago Reader in 2010. Soon after she was a New Face of Comedy in Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival and re-located to Los Angeles in 2011. Within her first year in L.A., Beth made her late night television debut on Conan and released her debut album "Sweet Beth" on Rooftop Comedy Records. Beth then appeared on Comedy Central's @midnight, Chelsea Lately and The Pete Holmes Show.
Beth was asked to perform stand-up on Jimmy Kimmel Live, after Jimmy saw her perform at Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. Since then Beth filmed her Comedy Central half hour stand-up special in Boston (now available on Hulu), and Vulture named it one of the "Best Stand-up Specials of 2015."
In conjunction with her Comedy Central special, Stelling
released her second (and better) comedy album "Simply the Beth." The Interrobang and Splitsider named it one of the top ten albums of 2015. Her newest stand-up special filmed in L.A. this year is now streaming on Netflix. It was released July 4, 2017 in a Netflix original series called The Standups (Beth is episode 5).
Other places to look for Beth: Showtime's Comedy of SXSW, the indie movie This Isn't Funny on Netflix, The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail, The High Court and season 2 of Amazon's series Red Oaks opposite Jennifer Grey. She's also guest starring in the upcoming Comedy Central series Corporate.
Beth tours her stand-up year round the U.S. in clubs, colleges and festivals (SXSW, Bumbershoot, Warped Tour, NYCF, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Sasquatch). She's also toured abroad in Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Beth writes for Judd Apatow's HBO series Crashingstarring Pete Holmes. Season 1 is available on HBO-go and season 2 premieres January 14, 2018. She wrote for Another Period starring Natasha Leggero & Riki Lindhome on Comedy Central, in which she has a cameo on upcoming season 3! Prior she'd been a consulting producer for MTV's Ridiculousness.
And lots of podcasts: The Adam Carolla Show, You Made It Weird, Competitive Erotic Fan Fic, Spontaneanation, Cry Babies, 2 Dope Queens and We Should Have a Podcast.
